What’s it Like to Job Search with a Staffing Partner?

Job searching can be one of the most personally vulnerable and isolating times of our professional lives. We go it alone and can go from feeling full of hope to unemployable on a daily basis. We often find ourselves in situations like these:

Finding the jobs you want, but they are often filled before they barely hit job boards.

Knowing that you are well qualified for roles, but if your experience isn’t a perfect match, you never hear back.

Knowing you have great value, but struggle to sell yourself and seal the offer.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

Job searching with a staffing partner can help you access job opportunities in the “hidden” marketplace. This is especially important if you are looking for a job within an employer of choice that can be difficult to get into without some representation. But most importantly, a staffing company recruiter can be your personal advocate, help you discover what type of job is the best fit,  and ensure you don’t have to go it alone!

How do staffing companies work?

Firstly, I’d like to dispel a couple of common myths about staffing companies…

❌ Staffing companies only provide entry level and temporary jobs

❌ Staffing companies charge you fees for using their services to find a job

❌ Staffing companies never provide benefits to employees

❌ Staffing companies do not treat their employees as well as companies treat permanent employees

❌ Staffing companies only fill high volume positions in warehouses

❌ Staffing Companies only offer temporary jobs and not full-time opportunities

ALL of These are NOT True!

A staffing company can help a job seeker in finding a variety of jobs across skill levels and industries. PACE hires employees that are just getting started in a career up to the executive and C-Suite level across temporary, temp-to-hire and direct hire working arrangements.

As a staffing company, employers pay PACE to find qualified candidates and interview them for the open position. Simply put, the staffing company takes care of most of the “heavy lifting” of hiring. Employers love that they can avoid the time-consuming nature of sifting through stacks of resumes and interviewing unqualified candidates and get straight to the great candidates they need! Staffing company services are free for candidates, all fees are paid by the employer.

If you are working a Temporary or Temp-to-Hire job, the staffing company will pay you, be your legal employer and provide you with a W-2 at the end of the year. Staffing companies should never change you a fee.  If this happens to you, run in the other direction!

Like most employers, PACE offers great medical & dental benefits to employees after their 60th day of employment.

If you are working a Direct hire position, you will be hired & paid directly by the company, not the staffing company that recruited you.

There are a variety of reasons why an employer would choose to engage a staffing company like PACE to help them find and hire great candidates like YOU! The most common that we experience is that companies do not have enough internal resources (time, money, recruiting talent, etc) to handle their recruiting needs and would rather utilize a staffing company and their expertise of the candidate market. Companies utilizing short-term or temporary staff during challenging or uncertain economic times like the present, will utilize a staffing company to avoid the high costs of hiring directly and having to make long term commitments. No employer wants to hire and then lay off.

What Can a Staffing Partner Do for You?

If you have ever been in the situation mentioned at the beginning on this blog (Finding the jobs you want, but they are often filled before they barely hit job boards) a staffing company could be the perfect solution for you. Most companies never post jobs publicly or wait until a staffing company has been recruiting on the job for several weeks. Thus, when you have a staffing partner on your side, you’ll have access to this hidden market!

Job searching can be incredibly time consuming and overwhelming. Having a staffing partner will save you a lot of time! A staffing company recruiter will take their time to evaluate your skills and experience then find roles that would be a good fit for you. You’ll spend much less time searching job sites for jobs and completing lengthy applications for each job. Additionally, a recruiter will provide valuable insights on the local job market including letting you know what type of jobs and working arrangements you’ll likely encounter in your area.

When a recruiter has a job that you are qualified for, they will help you to identify your strongest talents and pinpoint your experience in ways that will get the employer’s attention and ensure they know your ability to meet their business needs in the specific position. The recruiter will be a true partner and your personal advocate by helping hiring managers overcome any unnecessary hesitation about hiring you by reassuring your capabilities. This is especially important if you are in the middle of a career transition or have an unconventional background. Or, as mentioned at the beginning of this blog, you find yourself knowing that you are well qualified for roles, but your experience isn’t a perfect match, and you never hear back. A staffing partner will tell your story and ensure it will be heard in a way that will show how you have the skills it takes to perform on the job!

Most importantly, a staffing partner is truly a partner because they are a consistent source of motivation that will provide helpful feedback and coaching to you throughout the job searching process. This free feedback is invaluable and will ensure you have the best chances of landing a job offer!

Here at PACE, cultivating strong partnerships with our candidates is what we value and enjoy most about our work. Nothing makes our work more rewarding than seeing a candidate accept a job that will improve their lives in any facet or take on that next step in their career. It is always an exciting day in our office anytime a candidate starts a new job!
